Last weekend we took a trip to Omaha for Grandma's birthday (picture of that to come later....) We could take I-29 as far as Rockport before the interstate closed and we were forced to exit. It was crazy to see so much water where it didn't belong. It looked like the Great Lakes dotted with trees and houses. Water for as far as the eye could see....this picture doesn't even do it justice, but it's where we were able to stop and pull over to snap one!
When we got into town we picked up my cousin, Noah, and headed to the zoo for a bit. It was hotter than blazes, so we just did a few of the indoor things near the entrance. Here are Madie and Kaiden on the lions, Madie is doing her lion growl...Grrrr!!! Our first stop was the Wild Kingdom, which we had actually never been in before. They had lots of neat things on display. This was a tarantula, hoping not to find one of those in my house!
BEEP BEEP!!! Here comes the Bahr crew!

Finding Nemo....
They had a big tank in here with lots of turtles and fish. Eric was our photographer and I must say he got some amazing photos. Mr. Turtle was giving him a smile
Kealy loved watching the turtles, but she couldn't decided if she wanted to get close and press her face against the glass, or stand back
Polly wanna cracker?

Another place we ventured into that we had never seen before was the Butterfly Pavilion. The kids have really taken a fascination to butterflies and I must say, this quickly become one of my favorite exhibits at the Omaha zoo
There were butterflies EVERYWHERE, and although it freaked me out a little bit to have them flying around me, it was amazing
These green ones are just absolutely stunning
At the end of the exhibit they have a room where all of cocoons are growing. They are behind a glass window, but it was so neat to see all of the different types and how colorful they are. Mother nature is simply beautiful!
EEEKKK! Another spider!
