Equestrian Competition

Saturday the kids and I went to an equestrian competition.  Another Doha first!!  However, in typical Doha fashion, we pulled up to one gate, "no entrance, go to gate 7".  We go to gate 7, guess what, "no entrance, go to gate 8".  Starting to get frustrated.....we get to gate 8 and they let us in!!!  Bonus: we got our tickets for free!  Guess I must have looked frazzled after the parking debacle and the guy felt sorry for me!!!

Having never been to anything like this before the kids and I thought it was amazing!  The horses were just beautiful!

We sat behind a gentleman who is from Bahrain.  He winters there and spends his summers in California!  NICE!!!  He was a very kind gentleman who explained how the races work.  There were 19 horses and if they knock any part of the obstacle over it's 4 points.  If they refuse to jump, it's also 4 points, if they have a "clear ride" which means they didn't knock anything over, they proceed to the next round.  There were 5 horses with a clear ride.  The second round is based on time and whether or not they knock anything over.  So fascinating!!

 Limoncello 6 was the winner!!!!
I was amazed at how quickly they got things ready for the awards ceremony.  They had carpet rolled out, banners up, flowers placed, all in under 10 minutes!!!
