Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the Women's Heart Luncheon put on by the American Heart Association. I was invited by my supervisor, Tricia, as a thank you for all of the donations I raise and volunteer work I do. I was so honored to be asked and we had a fabulous time!
The luncheon was held at the Overland Park Convention Center. We arrived at 10:30 and started checking out the vendors. There were lots of freebies to snatch up and we even got a hand massage and
paraffin wax bath! They also had a silent auction which included numerous designer hand bags.
AHHH purses! My
Achilles heal! Unfortunately they were WAY out of my price range. Trish and I discussed bidding on one, splitting the price, and sharing the purse throughout the year. Probably the only way we could afford one!
Lunch started at noon and while we ate various people gave talks including one woman who had a heart attack at the age of 27! She gave a very powerful speech, moving everyone to tears. I wish I
could have recorded it to share. After lunch we moved downstairs for wine and chocolate tasting. What a way to end the day!
Tricia and me -
Rockin' the Red!!!
We'd made a donation to AHA and got a red and black feather boa, SASSY!!!
The one thing I did bid on and won, was a
Garmin heart rate monitor, pedometer, calorie counter, etc. It also included our table arrangement of these beautiful tulips. I've been wanting a new HR monitor and am anxious to try it out! I think we'll walk up to the park this afternoon.
Thanks so much Trish for inviting me. I had such a wonderful time. What an awesome event!
