Who Turned Out the Lights???

So, tonight I got home around 5:15 and went to open the garage door and it wouldn't work. At first I thought, "am I THAT tired that I don't even remember which button to push?". First I got out and tried the keypad, and when that didn't work, I unlocked the door and went inside. I tried the button on the wall, nothing. I flipped the light switches, nothing. Now I'm starting to freak out because all of the houses around us have power, except for the two on either side. One lady I knew wasn't home, and I wasn't sure about the other family. I called for Barkley, put him in the back of the car and called Eric. He wanted me to walk ALL THE WAY upstairs and get the flashlight to check the breaker box. I said, "there's no way I'm going in there, you don't know who could be in there!!" I was really suspicious b/c I wasn't sure if we were the only house with the power out. I told him to leave work and hurry home. He was a little frustrated b/c he was hoping to stay late and get some extra work done. Next I called our babysitter Sandra. Her husband is an electrician and I thought he might be able to help. Well, she was on her way to a class, but suggested I call the police. So I did that, and the lady said she would send someone out. Well, in the meantime, Kaiden is getting hungry, Madie can see home and wants to go in and watch Mickey. I called Eric back to tell him I called the police and I could immediately hear the tone in his voice changing to, "oh geez, my wife is a crazy woman" So I got mad and hung up on him!!! I circled the block a few times, and finally the lady next door came out. I pulled in her driveway and she told me her power was out too. In the meantime, the guy down the street came home, who is also a cop, and he walked thru the house with me. Wouldn't you know the batteries were dead in our big flashlight! Grrrr!!! So I lit a few candles and went out to get the kids. Of course, when we get inside Madie immediately wants to blow all of the candles out and watch Mickey. Kaiden is still crying and I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Not to mention, I'm still really scared to be in this dark house by myself with two little kids. Eric finally came home, and about 10 minutes later the cops arrived. Sure hope they're a little faster in a real emergency! We gathered up our things and decided to go out for dinner and hope that when we come home the power will be back on. Thank the Lord that it was!!! Oh the things we take for granted. The funny part was, when we got to the restaurant, Kaiden had Madie's jacket on, and she was wearing his!!! I said, "Eric, didn't you notice that one was a little too big, and one too small?" He said, "well, they look a lot a like, and it was hard to tell in the dark!" Hahaha!!!
