Tough Day

I had a tough day at work today, that continued when I got home. They are "restructuring" (I've come to HATE this word) some positions at the hospital and we learned today that our secretary's position is being cut back from full time to part time. I'm not sure how long Mimi has worked for HCA, but I know that it's been a long time. She truly is the heart of our department and keeps everything running smoothly. She does everything from contacting and scheduling new patients, to calling physicians for orders, putting in charges, ordering supplies, and generally keeping tabs on all of our patients. She was instructed to leave today before lunch, and she has the weekend to think about whether or not she wants a part time position or has the option of taking severance pay and leaving. I really don't know what we would do without her. I won't bore you with everything that is going on with HCA right now, but it is becoming increasingly hard for me to continue to work for a company that I do not believe in or trust. I truly love my job as an Exercise Physiologist, I just don't enjoy who I have to do it for. This has overall been a tough week at work.

To top my day off, I tried to pick up some prescriptions at Walgreens, and I quickly learned that it is a very bad idea to try and get your scripts filled on a Friday at the end of the month. So, we skipped that line and came home to find that Barkley had taken the liberty of scattering all of Madison's toys all over the living room. He also chewed the handle off the basket that held her toys. I was very upset with him. Then while I was fixing dinner, Madison got ahold of an ornament that I made when I was 6 years old, and started chewing on the end of it. It was a wooden moon that I had colored with markers. It turned her lips purple and blue and she just thought this was the funniest thing.

She is cutting a lot of teeth right now and has been chewing on everything from our cork coasters, to the foam corner protectors on the coffee table, Barkley's raw hides, and several books.

Well, the toys are picked up, the marker is washed off, and Madison is finally sleeping. Guess this means I need to go downstairs and help Eric start painting the basement. (Yes, it's okay for pregnant women to do a little painting since we don't use lead paint anymore) Plus, I feel bad that I haven't been able to do more to help him out.
