Interesting Day

This morning got off to a great start with Eric offering to take Madison to day care so that I could sleep in until 6:30AM!!! (I never knew waking up at 6:30 would be considered "sleeping in"). Anyway, it was nice, and I woke up refreshed. I've been taking an ACLS class the past two days to be re-certified for work, and my class didn't start until 8:30. Shortly before I was ready to leave there was a knock at the front door. A man from AT&T was there and said they were doing something with the lines and would have to dig in our backyard...probably where my flower bed is! Now let me tell you, this is just our luck. This summer I put a lot of time, money, and sweat into re-doing this flower bed, and it's the one spot in our yard that actually looks nice and now they want to dig it up???!!! I was NOT happy, but I didn't have time to protest. I called Eric on my way to class, and he said not to worry, that if it's not put back the way we want it, we'll call AT&T and have them pay for it.

Things started looking up when I passed my class and was done by 11:00. (the class was scheduled to go until 5:00PM!) I ran a few errands, and came home for lunch. I was really nervous to see what the backyard would look like, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Fortunately, they dug mostly in front of my flowers, and only had to move 2 plants. However, it must have been a short day for them as well, because they never came back from lunch. So this is what we have right now.

After lunch I called Sandra to see if Madie was ready to be picked up, but she was napping. So, I decided to treat myself to a trip to the Legacy Park Community Center. I have been eyeing this place ever since we moved here. It's a lot like The Centre in Rolla, they have a fitness area, pool with play things for the kids, basketball and racquetball courts, and a track. I went today for about an hour, and it felt SO GOOD to be back in a gym. It's been about 16 months, and I didn't realize how much I missed it. I had a really good workout, and I think I'll get a pass to start going more often. I know Madie would LOVE the pool.

After my workout, I picked Madison up and we headed to Deer Valley Park. Lee's Summit has over 25 parks, and it's our goal to try all of them out! (or at least the ones with play equipment). She really enjoys going down the slides and saying "WEEEE". I enjoy being able to watch her exploring new things, and she helps me remember what it was like to be a kid again and enjoy the simple things in life. It's great.

Well, I can't believe it, but all of my kids are in bed already, and have probably been sleeping for at least an hour now. (Yes, even Eric!) Which meant I got to enjoy Grey's Anatomy in peace and quiet.
