Time Travelers

To say these past two weeks have been a whirlwind would be an understatement.  Sunday, April 6th we received a phone call that Eric's grandfather had passed away.  Although we were anticipating it, it is never easy to lose a loved one.  Bright and early Monday morning, April 7th , we were on a plane back to the States.  A long, 14 hour flight, a quick layover in Chicago and we were in KC by 8:00PM Monday evening.  It was surreal to be back in America after being gone for 3 months.  Although the time is going by quickly, and 3 months isn't really that long, it had felt like FOREVER since we'd been home.  Lots of emotions between losing Eric's beloved Grandpa Leo and seeing our family again.  We packed in lots of bacon, games, bacon, a movie, bacon, and play time with the cousins.  Did I mention we ate lots of bacon?  It is never long enough.  We would've loved to have been able to see some of our friends in Lee's Summit, but the time did not allow.  August will be here before you know it, and we are making lots of plans for play dates (and more bacon)!!!

Saturday afternoon we were back on the plane.  At least the flight back to Doha is 2 hours shorter than going to the States.  We arrived Sunday evening and my friend, Tiggy, picked us up from the airport.  It was so nice to have a friend there when we returned.  A quick 24 hour turn around, laundry, re-packing, and lunch with friends, and we were back at the airport Monday evening to head to Barcelona.  That flight left at 3:30AM Tuesday morning.  (are you keeping up?  because I barely am!)  Eric thought we could get to the airport around 11:00PM, sleep at the gate, and catch our flight.  Wishful thinking I'm afraid.  I've never seen that airport so busy!!!  We had a short flight to Dubai, during which all 3 kids fell asleep!  A long walk to the next terminal to board the amazing A380! It is the world's largest passenger plane, with two decks! It's simply massive.  The Emirates flight attendants are also top notch!

We arrived in Barcelona Tuesday afternoon.  (Barcelona is 1 hour earlier than Doha, or 7 hours behind CST)  We spent 3 1/2 lovely days in Barcelona - hoping to post some pictures soon. We arrived back in Doha at 2:30AM Easter Sunday morning.  WHEW!!!!  I'm exhausted just typing it all.  As I said, it's been a whirlwind these past two weeks.  Getting settled back into our routine this week.  Kids returned to school yesterday, and I am constantly working on the ever growing, never shrinking, mountain of laundry!!!!
