We checked into our room Friday evening. Jacob, the innkeeper, showed us around, and then we quickly changed to head out to dinner at J. Gilberts. If you have never eaten there I highly recommend it! The food was awesome. We had plans to walk around the Plaza afterwards, but ended up just buying a bottle of wine and sitting out on the patio by our room.
It was absolutely wonderful to be able to have an evening for just the two of us. When we came back to the B&B Jacob had warm chocolate chip cookies waiting for us with some drinks. This place was awesome!
Saturday morning we woke up early, 6AM, the kids have us trained I guess. It was nice to just be able to lay in bed though and not have to get up, change diapers and fix breakfast for someone else. We had breakfast down on the deck before heading back home, and man was it delicious.
They are known for their food...Eric said they have been featured on the Food Network a couple of times, and they had tons of newspaper and magazine articles framed featuring their establishment. This morning we had grilled pork chops, croissant french toast with a honey maple glaze, peaches, and a mango smoothie. There's a reason why I don't eat breakfast like this every day! After breakfast it was back home to the munchkins, and I was anxious to see them. They had a fun evening with Grandma watching a movie with popcorn and playing. They even helped her make pancakes for breakfast. Madie and I had a date with the cousins at the Midland Theater for the Nickelodeon Storytime show, so we quickly headed down to that.
Madison and Gracie playing with their lights during the show. We were originally toward the back on the left hand side of the theater, but Jill spoke to an usher and we were able to score seats in the center, 6 rows back!!! Thanks Jill, you ROCK!!! The girls had a fun time. Madie always loves to hang out with the cousins. On to our next adventure.....
Every year the Abundant Life Baptist Church in Lee's Summit puts on a FREE carnival! Everything is free, the rides, the food, and activities. This is our 3rd year going and it's really hard to pass up. So we headed out there for a little bit, and it was a lot warmer than we had anticipated.
This is Kman getting a bulldozer tattoo. He gets really hot and red in the face pretty easily, so we didn't end up staying too long.
We were hoping to make it to the Midwest Balloon fest in Overland Park, but a storm rolled in canceling most of those activities. Can't do it all I guess!!! Hoping to make it to that festivity next year.
That brings us to Sunday, reserved for church and now football! Eric had a request that we all put on our Chiefs gear to watch the game. Come to find out, Madie and Kaiden have out grown theirs, so that is on my list of things to buy! Here is Miss Kealy in her cheerleader outfit with Eric. That poor girl has no idea what this house is like during football season. Cover your ears Keakers!!!
