KC Zoo

Wednesday we had a family day and took the kids to the Kansas City Zoo. We had such a great time that we ended up getting a family pass for the rest of the year! Our first stop was at the sea lion exhibit where they were doing a show. These little guys are so cute! Madison loves the elephants!
She also loves riding the round and round, as she calls it.
My favorite was this big gorilla
Kaiden loved most all of the animals, and would quickly slither out of the stroller as soon as it came to a stop. His favorite though was the crocodile!
We hit the monkeys at just the right time, they were getting a snack of pine cones smothered with peanut butter. Apparently it's very tasty!
The kids also like the lions...just like Mufassa and Simba.
Looking out over a field of oryx. She was jabbering the whole time telling me all about them.
Eric the engineer was of course impressed with the suspension bridge. It was cool, but also made me kind of dizzy to walk across.
Eric and I have been to a lot of zoos...Omaha, St. Louis, and Columbus as of lately, but I must say that we were really impressed with this one because it felt like the animals were in their natural habitat, and you were able to get really close to them. Like I said earlier, we just had an awesome time!
We really only saw about 1/3 of the zoo, but Mom and Dad were tired of pushing the strollers, and the kids were getting hot and ready for naps. So we grabbed a cool treat and called it a day, saving some animals to see for next time.

Madison couldn't make up her mind as to which one she wanted, so she kept swapping with Kaiden. Thankfully he's a good sharer.
