Eric and I had a wonderful day together. After a delicious breakfast we hit the road for the outlet mall! I can't remember the last time the two of us went shopping together. He was very patient and didn't complain one bit about how much I was spending!
Outside our front door at the Cliff House Inn
I couldn't pass up some fudge from the Rockey Mountain Chocolate Factory! We grabbed lunch at the shops from Cheese Steak Jeddy's which came recommended to us by Gary, and was delicious. After lunch we drove over to the Ha Ha Tonka state park in Camdenton. We couldn't have asked for better weather. The sun was out and it was about 65 degrees.
Eric just thought the name of the park was hilarious and he kept calling me "Tonka" the whole afternoon. We were laughing so hard I almost peed my pants! Our first hike was up to the top of this cliff that overlooked a natural spring and the lake down below. Just looking down was making me dizzy, so we didn't spend too much time near the edge.
Also at the top of the cliff was this old castle that had burned down. All that was left was the stone foundation. They started building the castle in 1909 and the roof caught fire in 1942. It's really amazing to see what people could build back then without modern construction tools. I'm channeling my inner engineer :)
Are these stones up to code Mr. Engineer?
A lot of the trees have already changed color and are now brown, but I did find a few pretty ones to photograph. I just love this time of year.
Our next hike was to a natural bridge that was formed from the rocky cliffs. Eric was able to hike up further and actually walk on top of the bridge.
Our last hike for the day took us down to where the spring was. It was cool and shady along this path, but beautiful none-the-less. Needless to say, we burned our lunch off and I was ready to head back to the room for a nap!

Tonight we had a yummy dinner at a steak/seafood restaurant. We had planned to go to a movie, but missed the early show and didn't think we could stay awake for the late show; man we are getting old! So we came back to our room to relax. It has been such a wonderful weekend, and I love being able to take a few days to getaway from our hectic schedules and reconnect with Eric. So thank you, thank you, thank you to the Bahrs for watching the kids for us this weekend so we could have a weekend to ourselves to relax!
