Memorial Day

Memorial Day used to just be another holiday that I looked forward to having a day off, it never took on much meaning to me until this year. The kids and I decorated a flower pot with their hand prints and planted some red geraniums in it to take to Grandpa's grave. I went to the cemetery Friday night after we got into town. It was almost dusk, but there were still several people there, and I was amazed at how many flowers there already were. It was beautiful. This picture hardly does it justice.
Monday morning I met Mom, Grandma, Aunt Kay and the girls for mass at the chapel. It was a nice little service and then we went to Grandpa's gravestone to say some prayers. It was very nice, and Memorial Day has taken on a whole new meaning for me now.
Saturday night we had a Rockband jam session at the Bahrs. First the little kids got to play before the adults took over. Be sure to check out the videos below for Lars rockin' out!!! I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath!!!
Of course, every Memorial weekend marks the annual LeBlond alumni tourney. Eric and Shanin played this year and had games back to back. Madie decided to get out on the floor and show the girls her skills. It was fun, but hotter than Hades in the old gym.
Kaiden cooled off with Aunt Christie's drink! The poor kid was soaked with sweat by the time we left, and passed out in the car on the way to Great Grandma's house.
All in all we had a really fun and relaxing weekend, which is just what we needed with work being hectic right now for both of us.
