Prayers

Well, a lot has happened since my last post. My Grandpa Rauth was admitted to the hospital early Saturday morning because his defibrillator had gone off a dozen times and he possibly had pneumonia. We went up on Sunday to see him and he did not look well. A lot of my family had come in from out of town and we were camped out in the ICU waiting room. Monday afternoon my Dad called me at work and said that Grandpa said he was ready to go meet St. Peter and that a lot of the grandkids had called to say their good-byes. I spoke to my Grandpa and even though I had thought about this moment a lot over the past several years no amount of time will ever prepare someone for a conversation like that. Once I got off the phone I immediately left work and headed up to St. Joe, hoping and praying that I would make it there in time. I did, and I spent the next few hours in his room surrounded by my family. I left later that evening thinking that it could be the last time I see him. He made it thru the night, and was actually doing a little better on Tuesday. Since I'm off on Tuesdays I took the kids back up to St. Joe to visit some more. Later that evening they moved him home and have hospice coming. I understand that today he had a fever and has gone "down hill" some. We're heading back to St. Joe tomorrow night. I just ask for your prayers for my sweet little Grandpa, that in God's time, he may slip quietly away to Heaven, and that those of us who are left behind can find the strength to move on thru life with his memory close to our hearts.
