4th of July Festivities

The kids spent all of last week with Larry and Paula since Eric was out of town helping Chip move to Ohio. At first I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself with a quiet house and just me and Barkley. However, I quickly found things to keep me busy and enjoyed the time to myself. I especially enjoyed a full night's rest...uninterrupted. It was glorious!!! I went for runs with Barkley, scrapbooked, shopped, and laid out by the pool. We headed back to St. Joe for the 4th and had a relaxing weekend. We spent the day with Shanin, Brandon and Leah and enjoyed a quiet 4th of July with the kids. It was really nice since we hadn't seen them for the past 5 days. Shanny fixed a delicious lunch of lasagna. After our food digested we swam in the pool, and cooled off in the shade with some popsicles and bomb pops. We had a really fun time with them.
Later that evening we met up with Larry and Paula and loaded everyone up in the van to head down to the river to watch the city firework display (in a van down by the river Hahaha!). Kaiden slept thru the whole thing, and Madie just loved it. Lars found the perfect parking spot and we were able to stay in the car and watch to avoid the mosquitoes. Madie oooo'd and ahhhh'd throughout the whole display and when it was all finished she said, "More?!" Too cute!
My little firecracker
Saturday we pretty much hung out at home. Larry, Barb and Grandma were having a movie day and made some homemade ice cream. I shared a bowl of raspberry with Madison. It was really good.Eric and I are back in Lee's Summit now, and the kids are spending this week with my parents because our babysitter is on vacation. Although we're enjoying some time for just the two of us, we really miss the kids. I always knew they were a huge part of my life, but I just never realized how much so until they've been gone for several days. We truly are blessed with two of the best kids, that just enrich our life to the fullest.
