Not off to a good start
Well, today it was back to work and day care, at least for a little while...around noon Sandra called to tell me that Madie had a fever of around 101 and that I needed to come get her. I was actually surprised that she lasted that long because she looked pretty rough when I dropped her off. So, we came home, and napped, thank God for naps, and waited until the urgent care clinic opened at 4:00. We got there right at 4, but somehow there was already about 10 people ahead of us waiting. The room was packed and it was hotter than Hades! Madison didn't want to sit on my lap, so we had a constant battle of me chasing her, and trying to find something to occupy her with. The one thing I love about this clinic is that they get you in and out pretty fast, so fortunately it wasn't too long before they called our name. The nurse did an assessment, and shortly after that the doctor came in. She looked Madie over and said that her ears and lungs are clear, but that she does have a sore throat. Madie also has a nasty snotty nose, cough, and gunky eyes. Dr. Veenstra said it's probably a virus, and to keep doing everything we've been doing and hopefully she'll be over it in a couple more days. I was really glad to have the peace of mind of having her checked out, and to know that I've been doing all the right things. We treated ourselves to some custard from Culvers and headed home. I really wanted to keep her home tomorrow, but I've used up almost all of my vacation time the past two weeks with holidays, and Eric has a big project due at work, so we called on Grandma Patty to the rescue! She was able to come down this evening, and will stay with her tomorrow. I'm hoping Madie will be back to her old self by Friday. As for me, I'm hoping to get a decent night's sleep while leaving the night watch duties to Grandma! THANKS MOM!!!!
