Childrens Mercy

We had a pretty eventful day today. Madison had a UTI last week so our pediatrician recommended that we have some tests done to see what may have caused it. So, this afternoon we headed out to Childrens Mercy South, in Overland Park, for a sonogram and a VCUG test (voiding cystourethrogram for you medical people!) The sonogram went smooth, but I was really nervous for the next test. We went into a room and I put a tiny, little hospital gown on her and they took an x-ray. Next we went into a different room where they prepped her for a catheter, and gave her a shot of lidocane to numb the area. They quickly put the catheter in, and when the radiologist arrived they put the dye in and started taking some x-rays. Since I'm preggers I had to stand out in the hall, which was probably the hardest thing to do! I really thought about peeking thru the door! Fortunately, Eric was able to go with us and be with her. They pulled the catheter out, and poured some warm water on her to get her to pee while they continued to take some x-rays and then they were done! The whole thing probably took around 10 minutes. The radiologist said things looked okay and that we would hear from our pediatrician soon. The nurses and everyone were very nice, and we had a very positive experience. Madie was such a little trooper! We got dressed and headed out the door to Babies R Us!!! We picked up a few things for her birthday party, and then I treated myself to some frozen custard from Culvers!
